In our present society, we do a great injustice to the liver by indulging in the wrong eating habits like fast, fried and fatty foods, tea, coffee, alcohol and cigarettes. Youngsters being misguided and frustrated, indulge in narcotics and intoxicating drugs. Late night parties, movies and mental worries are a part of modem life style. All these practices affect the functioning of liver, which is a vital organ, causing cirrhosis and cancer of the liver & various other problems. In Ayurveda, the causes, signs and symptoms, and preventive measures as well as curative treatment of these ailments are described in. detail. Prescription and prohibitions mentioned in Ayurveda are not known to today's intellectuals. But these drug herbs are used in treatment of liver. Selected herbal remedies are used in this work. These drugs are tested on animals and human beings and found to be effective.
