Author Biography:

Joseph Conrad was born in 1857 to Polish parents in what used to Polish Ukraine. He was orphaned at an early age, but decided just as early that we would become a maritime merchant. He sailed with the French merchant marine, before he sailed with the British. Conrad wrote numerous naval stories at the peck of British power, and European imperialism. Heart of Darkness is considered his greatest work. It was the inspiration for the famous Vietnam War movie, 'Apocalypse Now'.
