Media breaks are designed to add a satirical side to the games storyline, filmed by real actors it becomes an integral part of keeping the narrative flowing. To set the scene for the gamer there is a linking device, which enables the player to stay in touch with the narrative. But at the same time gives a sense of the game world, while adding humour and satirical swipes at what LA might become.
The diversity of the areas ranges from the sun-bleached streets of California, futuristic labs and claustrophobic ship interiors. A variety of environments are featured, from underground car parks, sewers and shopping malls all created with an impressive amount of detail. The environments are interactive and have an effect on the way you play the game. Action filled camera angles have been designed to complement the way Jack moves around his environment.
Jack has access to the latest in weaponary technology, non leathal weapons are designed to stun the enemy and preserve their organs for transplant, from shotguns, machine pistols and grenades, all of which can be earned and unlocked as the game progresses. Jack will need to prove himself in a virtual training ground. LEILA (Law Enforcement Information and licence Approval) sets challenges for Jack, which earn him credits and give you the chance to learn skills that will be essential as the game progresses. The training provides not only a gateway to the multi player side of the game but is also a chance for Jack to increase his attributes by upgrading his Headhunter licence.
