Description

Cuthbert Hadden was a 19th century writer best known for his biography of the composed Joseph Haydn. Hadden give much of the credit for the initial biographical work on Haydn to Dr Pohl. In 1902 Hadden wrote:" I have endeavored to tell the story of his career simply and directly, to give a clear picture of the man, and to discuss the composer without trenching on the ground of the formalist." Haydn unlike many of his contemporaries led a tranquil life. He was not impoverished or insane or plagued by scandal. His was a life of creativity.
