Since I brought this insane game I have downloaded 30+ tracks and many car sets (the 71 Escort has 30 skins). My favorite tracks are Pukekohe, Phillip Is, Taupo and Bathurst. Most loved cars are BMW Z3, Escort, Nismo R390 and Godzilla.
I race looking over my nearly worn out Logitech Momo FF wheel from the cockpit of my car, dancing at high speed over the manic curves of Pukekohe. The game is set on Simulation, all aids turned off, 10 AI cars set to ‘REAL’ and 100%, I'm fourth and roaring “THIS IS THE BEST RACING”.
Really good AI. Great net ability, no zooming or stutter. The internet browser works well enough but is ugly. It's not easy, anything but sim is a let down, it takes a effort to stop crashing but man oh man, when the groove is hot, all the work is really worth while.
You can race in sim with a hand controller (Smasher beat me in the Capri) but that input mode sucks big time when you savour the flavour of sweet force feedback. All the tracks talk to you. and when you listen to what the track says, you fly. The cars have heaps of adjustment available to tune for speed. Imagine what ‘slow bump’ can do for your lap time. ; ) There is a helpful ‘Help’ tab in every window so you can always figure out what to do.
Lots of the cars have many skins and they look awesome as you flash past in a panic of late braking. It is not as pretty overall as some of the the more bling racing games but at 300 kph I'd rather feel a good brake pedal then flash stars.
After 3000 laps all I can say is BRING IT ON.
