"Good fun CGI movie"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

What's there not to like here- There's Gerard Butler. There's lots of action. There's some so-so acting (hey Keanu's acting was so-so on Speed, and everyone still loved the movie, so yes, some movies can survive so-so acting). There's lots of variety: a little Indiana Jones, a little The Mummy, a WHOLE LOT OF CGI madness. There's quite a lot of style – Geoffrey Rush's ship and his clothes are a work of art!

It's one of those movies to watch when you've had a very tired day and just want to watch some crazy action without being too worried about the storyline. It's all in all surprisingly fun. Whenever I see professional critics pan a movie, I tend to want to see it for myself, and often, I find myself disagreeing with the pro critics. Watch it if you're looking for a fun movie.

Great movie for all action fans. Transforming Gods are quite cool.

"I'm only giving this a 1 because 0 is not an option."

Seriously one of the stupidest films I have ever seen. Not even just dumb popcorn fun. Oh no. This is an utterly new level of sheer stupidity, backed by a protagonist that you all but wish dead every time he shows up. Very, very impressive on the technical aspect, but quite literally EVERYTHING ELSE – acting, dialogue, editing, visual design – just wraps together to deliver a cinematic experience that is so damn bad that it makes Michael Bay look like a visual auteur.

Description

Gods Of Egypt

In this spectacular action-adventure inspired by the classic mythology of Egypt, the survival of mankind hangs in the balance as an unexpected mortal hero Bek [Brenton Thwaites] undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love.

In order to succeed, he must enlist the help of the powerful god Horus [Nikolaj Coster-Waldau] in an unlikely alliance against Set [Gerard Butler], the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt's throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.

As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the epic final confrontation.

Critic Reviews:

  • " Gods of Egypt is the latest in a long line of insane, half-assed fantasy epics that leave audiences scratching their heads, jaws agape, wondering what the they just witnessed. Half tedious, half the best time I've ever had at the movies. " – Brent McKnight
  • " GODS OF EGYPT is a movie that commands no respect and lets you sit back and have brainless fun. " – Alex Maidy
  • " An entertaining and engrossing experience, and one I would have had a good time with during a quick Sunday matinee. " – Felix Vasquez Jr.
