Our World is getting smaller. Improvements in communications systems, transport and information highways mean that countries are connected to each other in an increasing number of ways - politically, economically, culturally and environmentally. "The Global Village" investigates the effects of globalisation on key international issues - for individuals, companies and governments. Are traditional skills, cultures and systems being lost in the interests of worldwide trade and economic progress? Can a balance be achieved between the expansion of global activities and preserving the interests of individual countries? Most importantly, what action is being taken to address these issues, and whose responsibility is it to ensure that globalisation is controlled and managed in the best interests of all concerned?
