"Love at first flight"
4 stars"

Ah, the humble yet majestic Flight Sim series from microsoft has released a new member to the prestigious family line, enter MS Flight Sim X DELUXE ED:

If you are ever pondering as to whether getting this or the “Standard” edition is better, just hear me out first. According to the Box, the deluxe edition offers

  • More high detail cities and airports in some of the most spectacular places
  • Structured missions to test your skills
  • Enhanced multiplayer features like sharing aircraft and live tower control
  • More planes including the maule
  • M7–260C Super rocket w/Wheels & Skis
  • Introducing the Garmin1000 Glass Cockpit

While I only just got this game for Xmas, I have had a play with it and I can say that the Multiplayer aspect is AWESOME!!! Especially the enhanced features such as being an ATC or sharing aircraft. The Garmin1000 Glass cockpit is a definite plus, being easier to work with than the old dials and knobs as seen on the rest of the aircraft.

My only problem is the Graphics – We all knew that this game would tax alot of systems but the lag I get when flying over auckland is kinda fustrating – and the detail is set to low. ( I have a WinFast PX7950GT and an AMD 3200+ CPU as well as 1024mb DDR400)

Besides this, this is an excellent title and belongs solely in your CD drive – don't take it out.

P.S. Joystick is a nessesity – the game is 500% better with one. P.P.S Have a play with the Sail plane – lots of fun to be had :)

Purchased on Mighty Ape

I purchased this game on the hype, but in retrospect should have played the demo first. I was quite aware that it was a rather cpu intensive game, and I figured my new 2gb ram, dual core 6400, nvidia 7950 system would be able to keep up, but that was not the case. Even on what can only be called a fairly grunty machine, this game has to be run with low settings and is still not smooth even then.

If you're looking for a flight simulator, and you've enjoyed previous version of MS FS, then you will probably enjoy this.

"So slow!"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

Purchased this game after raving reviews, but regretted this decision the first time I installed the program. I was only getting around 5FPS maximum, which is virtually unplayable. In the end, I switched back to FS2004, where I can get 25FPS on BEST settings. This makes it much better than wasting my $120 on FSX.
