"I love it!!!!!!!!"
5 stars"

Now, i've watched the japanese version, subtitled. And let me say, it assuaged my fears.

The first Final Fantasy Movie, THe Sprits Within, was terible. And i evpected the same from this. And i couldnt have been more wrong.

THe plot is wonderfull, and the graphics rule. But where this movie truly shines is the fight scenes. If you take all three matrix movies, every Jakie chan movie, and condence all the figthing scenes, you have something about a 1/3 of this movie. THe fightscenes are the best. Ever.

"English Version is great!!!"
5 stars"

I just received the english version of FF7 the movie from over seas, it is really cool to finally see the movie in english after having watch it in japanese. Althought the lip movement of the characters is a little off perfect, overall the film is really something and is a must have for all FF fans.

"Truly outstanding"
5 stars"

I saw this film about six months ago and I was totally blown away.

Firstly let me say this. If you are unfamiliar with the game you will have major issues with understanding the story line fully, however you need not understand it completely to enjoy this film.

Advent children covers the events 2 years after the end of the game and see's our heroes, albeit briefly, team back up to take on a new threat. The story mainly revolves around Cloud, Tifa and Vincent but all the playable characters and most of the non-playable characters make an appearance.

This film has some big surprises for fans of the game and a few moments so emotionally evoking that they will even bring a tear to your eye.

The animation quality is second to none. Everytime you think Square-Enix has reached the limit of realism with their movies they come back with something even better. CG movie makers need to watch this film and take notes.

Simply amazing. Buy it.

"Work of art...."
4 stars"

I so far have only seen the Japanese version which is a bit hard to understand…especially the opening scene at the last site of Sephiroth in the crater. However it does help if you have played the game as all the cameos, tinkles and general thread bare story will make a lot more sense.

The CGI is typical of the Final Fantasy genre…groundbreaking. The detail is so incredible you forget to watch the sub titles. Hopefully the english version makes a bit more sense, but this movie seems really only a tribute to the game instead of a stand alone oscar winner…However it HAS made me buy the Advent Children figures which are just as amazing in sculpt as FFVII AC is in graphical quality

"Matrix on Steroids"

Awesome CGI movie. You will understand it better if you've finished FFVII. The musical score is simply brilliant!!! Battle scenes are intense! Hope to see a remake of this game on the PS3 soon…

"Good Movie"
5 stars"

Ive seen this movie in Japanese with english subtitles but it still was a really good movie. The fight scenes are absoloutly awesome and while battling Bahamut SIN, all the former final fantasy 7 heros come back to fight it. The final Battle is excellent, Cloud vs Sephiroth is definately one of the best battles on the movie. It also helps to have played the game before (ive never played it but after seeing that i want to play it.) I think it will be even better in english. Excellent Movie.

If you enjoy Final Fantasy VII, well Final Fantasy in general, then this IS the movie to buy. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and continue to watch it constantly. Brilliant

"Over a million copies sold in Jp"
4 stars"

An all-time top 5 movie sales rank in Japan; over a million copies sold!
The action scenes in this movie are way off the limit! A million times more engaging than “The Matrix” action sequences!
Although there is not much plot to the overall movie, the action scenes make up for it.
The 8 (including Vincent and Yuffie) original characters are redesigned with realistic CG rendering, whilst maintaining the same characteristics of the original game.
According to Square-Enix, the movie creators and producers, motion capture was used in most character movements; however, the battle scenes were done by direct computer animation, in order to create scenes impossible to exist in reality: “There's no point in making a CG movie if its just te same as reality” says Tetsuya Nomura, director of the “advent Children” production.
Tension is built throughout the whole movie, using fast-paced battle scenes, causing the viewer to be continually engaged. The background music is excellent as usual.
Nobuo Uematsu (The head director of music) combines Rock, Opera and Classical music to create an engaging melody, which fits well with the mood and atmosphere of the scenes in the movie.
Overall, this movie deserves an 8/10 for excellence in music, battle scenes and engagement. The only negative is the plot – nevertheless, it is still very much worth watching…a must-see!

"I was SPEECHLESS!!!!!!!!!"
5 stars"

I first played Final Fantasy VII when I was 15/16. The game blew my mind in every way possible. I loved it! I worshipped it! I've played it evey year since then! Then I heard this movie was coming out and I went weak at the knees. Cloud?… my Cloud in a movie? I have to see this!! AND I DID! Where to begin?? The CGI is just amazing! Seeing these characters that you've become so accustomed to on the screen… NOT looking blocky or plain. I cried when I saw all of them.. but lets just keep that between us! The action in this movie amazing. Quick fight scenes and a 3 on 1 fight scene that was so fast and intense it had me on the edge of my seat. The core of this movie is what got to me the most. Forgivness, friendships, letting go, all that stuff… i had a tear or two at the end also which i loved. I can't say too much without giving anything away, so I'll just say this. Buy this Movie! It should be seen by everyone who has played the game and loved it as much as I did. If you havn't played it watch it anyway! You'll laugh.. cry… scream… rewind and watch again!

"It was worth the wait"
5 stars"

[Editor's note: Text refers to the Japanese Version] Well Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has finally been released in japan, and I can tell you, this was worth the very very long wait.

Long time fans of FFVII will be jumping for joy when they see this. If you haven't played FFVII in a while, no biggie. Your given a refresher course at the begin of the movie, bring you up to speed on everything that has happened. This is also useful for those who havent played FFVII, but even so i still found myself having to explain a few things to my Final Fantasy illiterate boy friend.

The graphics in this movie were breathtaking. Thats all I can say. They were just simply amazing.

And for those of you who have played FFVII, you will regonise many of the soundtracks used, most taken straight from FFVII, with a bit of a change from, of course, Nobou. If I am ever fortunate enough to meet him in person. I will have to thank him for all the good music he has brought into this world.

When this is realeased here. I will be buying it. Without a doubt. I shall own it. And to anyone who has ever played FFVII, so should you. To anyone who hasn't been fortunate enought to play FFVII, go out and get it, play it, and then get this movie.

You will not be dissapointed.

"Masterpiece by Squaresoft"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

[Editor's note: Text refers to the Japanese Version] This is the best animated movie that I have ever seen. After the failure of final fantasy:spirit within I've waited for this for a very long time. They have spent 2 years making and I have to say-its above my expectation. The characters from old final fantasy VII comes back and the action scene is beyond comprehension-and it takes over 50% portion of the movie! There has been nothing like this and It would be very foolish to miss this movie-even if you're not ff fan or havent played ffVII I can guarentee that this would still be very enjoyable.

"hope eng version makes sense"
3 stars"

As a fan of FF7, i was hoping for a movie that doesn't barstardise the game too much. Advent does a relatively good job at this, with cliches and scenes just straight from the game. However, this is what partly draws me to the movie, as i would love to see an updated version of the FF7 world.

The story line makes little sense when translated to sub titles and ends being a bit frustrating. Hopefully they can pull a ‘cowboy bebop’ and dub the jap dialogue over with english that actually is engageing and develops the story more. A direct translation would kill the english version of this film.

Awesome Visuals. I can't say it enough.

Overall, Jap version is only worth the action scenes. Hopefully english verison dialouge is improved.

"Looks good, but the story lacks."
4 stars"

Like many Final Fantasy fans, I was excited by the prospect of seeing an animated follow up to the hugely successful Final Fantasy 7. There's been alot of hype about this movie, and on the animation side of things it doesn't disappoint. The CGI is freaking brilliant, the fight scenes drool-inducing, and the character design spot on (yes, even the rather goth looking Sephiroth!).

Sadly, the story – or rather lack of one – is the let down. Although the plot sounds great, it isn't really developed alot and I ended up feeling as though I had watched a montage of fight scenes put together with some awesome background music. I would have liked a little more substance. Fans of the game will have some understanding of what's going on, but if you're a newcomer to the Final Fantasy franchise I'd say you'd need to play the game to fully appreciate this movie.

Not bad, but definitely one for the fans.
