Description

Squarepusher’s 25th Anniversary reissue of his classic debut album Feed Me Weird Things

When Feed Me Weird Things first appeared in 1996 it was such a sonic leap forward – marrying a dazzling inventiveness with a playful and unexpected recombination of older musical strands – that some listeners initially misunderstood it. But for those who were concentrating, Feed Me Weird Things was impossible to dismiss.

Tom Jenkinson, a groundbreaking young musician who was aware of what the select vanguard of the UK electronic underground were doing, was transformed into one of their peers and a figure whose own influence would sing out over the rest of the decade and beyond, or as Richard D James himself put it in his sleeve notes for Feed Me Weird Things, Tom was producing sound like sound never sounded before… Squarepusher gives us the SOUND of SOUND.

The progressive UK electronic underground was entering its ‘heroic’ phase and – alongside Aphex Twin and Autechre – Squarepusher would be front and centre of the movement.

Tom’s virtuoso bass playing and strong jazz influences set him apart from his contemporaries.

Originally released on Rephlex, Feed Me Weird Things the album has been out of print for more than a decade.

All tracks have been remastered from the original DATs by Matt Coulton.

Feed Me Weird Things is a classic album of the 90s. A must have in your collection.
