Elizabeth Edwards is a former graduate of Manchester University where she gained a B.A. (Admin) and also a Teacher's Diploma. For a couple of years she taught in a secondary school and also spent a year in Paris to improve her French. As a result she became a lecturer at Leamington Spa, Buxton and finally Bournemouth College of Further Education. She has lived in Bournemouth since 1962 and has found its history fascinating and began studying it. This resulted in her writing a series of articles for local history magazines. Her first book A History of Bournemouth was published in 1981. This was followed by several other books including her well-known Bournemouth Past and Famous Women of Dorset. Her latest book is Famous Folk of Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding area.
