"great game"

maybe not as scary as described in one of the other reviews, but a damn fine game, the enemy A.I. is excellent, the graphics are superb, well worth the money, can't wait for the next one.

When I first got this game I played it for about 10 mins then had to turn it off. If you knew me then you would know how much I enjoy scary movies but this game was a totally different experience. It took me a week to build up the confidence to play it again but during that week alot of bad things happened. Bad things were happening to me at work, my partner was struck by a car, My uncle informed me that he had cancer and alot of other smaller things. Too many bad things happened during this week to just call it a coincidence......

I highly recommend this game if you like to be scared out of your mind & I dare you try playing this at night time with headphones on full blast. I did for about 30 seconds & I wouldn't do it again.

The graphics in F.E.A.R. have to be seen to be believed! During gun fights, pieces of plaster fly off the walls, the air fills with smoke and dust and sparks fly. Puddles on the floor look incredibly real and, as you walk over them, you can look down and see your own reflection.

The sound is also very well done. The music causes the hair to creep in the back of your neck in the spooky sequences and picks up nicely during the action. The weapons give satisfying sounds – my favourite being “The Penetrator”. This thing fires off metal spikes about a foot long, and gives the most satisfying sound of all the weapons! Make sure you pick this thing up, because it’s actually one of the weapons that you take from the enemy!

The enemy AI is the best ever, but the part that makes F.E.A.R stand out, is the creep-out factor. This game, appearing as a cross between the movie “The Ring” and “The X-Files”, is extremely spooky and will have you jumping in your seat at every slightest sound. Yes, it is a gory game, but most of the thrills come from the atmosphere and the hallucinations. For instance: seeing a little girl in a red dress run past you into a dark corner, but, when you investigate, she’s not there. And what is this giggling little girl doing in the midst of a bloody battle, anyway?

All-in all, F.E.A.R was worth waiting for. This is one game that you have to have. It does take a high-end PC to play it though. But, if you end up paying more to upgrade your PC, you won’t regret it.

"Over Hyped"

This game was very overhyped. The overall game is pretty good, but it lacks the ability to interact with the enviroment, a lot of the game is predictable, and it was kind of short.
