ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Peter Scott is an award-winning teacher of Earth Science of over forty years' experience in both Secondary and Tertiary Education. He holds a Bachelors' Degree, two Masters' Degrees and a Doctorate including many years on his own field research correlating coal measures in parts of Australia. His interest in Geology has taken him to many parts of the world, including Eastern Antarctica, the Andes, the European and New Zealand Alps, North Africa, Indonesia and many other places in Asia and the Pacific. This book is part of the ADVENTURES IN EARTH SCIENCE series, 8 books, or one compendium issue. Dr. Scott has found that his studies and research for teaching this subject has led him into a number of adventurous situations such as climbing ice walls, exploring deep caves and mines, rock climbing in the European Alps and the Andes, sailing in Tall Ships and trekking across volcanoes.
