Legendary animator Tezuka Osamu is responsible for much of the popular imaginings of Japanese culture. A trained doctor, his passion for illustration led him to the world of serialised comics, or manga, and the overnight success of titles such as Jungle Emperor Leo and Testuwan Atomu in turn led to the screen.

Tezuka's distinctive drawing style has become renowned worldwide as the characteristic anime style, and his television series such as Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion have been welcomed into the homes of millions.

Directors Suite is proud to present 13 of Tezuka's rare experimental films, including Tales of a Street Corner, Jumping, Push and his 1986 Self-Portrait.
