"Well Rounded RTS"
4 stars"

I bought this game in the UK and would be still playing it now but unfortunately the copy protection prevented me playing the game in NZ when I tried to register it locally…wierd.

Story: It follows on from 2150. Everyone gets away from Earth and then as (bad) luck would have it in the universe in all its infinity… they bump into each other again and get right back into it, fighting that is.

If you liked the other Earth games give it a blast !

For those who haven't played any of the Earth series, it's quite unique in that it was one of the first games where you can design you're units for specific purposes e.g. a mech with a plasma cannon plus a cloak generator and a rocket launcher or maybe a mech with 3 plasma cannons for maximum firepower…it's up to you. What's more you can save unit designs for future play.

There's a big Tech tree which like a lot of RTS games requires a stack of resources to purchase/upgrade.

If there was a bigger online community this would still be a great game for multiplay.

"Great game - better than AOE3"

I wish I had bought this game sooner. It has so much more depth and gameplay than any other RTS game out at the moment. Another bonus is that you can zoom out a good distance, unlike Warcraft and Dawn of War. I highly recommend this game if you are thinking of buying it.

"Good, but with 2 main problems.."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

An excellent game for multiplayer – provided you have friends locally.

Great design (though simplified too much from the previous title for my complete liking), it's let down by two major problems:

  1. The voice acting. Think Haegemonia, but worse (Literal translation, anyone?)
  2. With the US release not yet out (re-recording the voices caused delays, apparently they were not ‘American’ enough) the online community is limited to Europe, mainly Germany and Poland, so if you want to play, learn what Gotow and relating phrases mean, quickly.

Or, play with friends here in NZ (May I suggest Hamachi – seems to work reliably)

Description

Note: This is the European/UK version of Earth 2160. You will have to change your timezone setting on your PC from New Zealand GMT to UK/London GMT to be able to play it.

The game uses the latest Earth III engine. Storing objects in a format based on the mathematical model of Bezier-curves instead of polygons. Giving an as yet unseen level of detail, only limited by the hardware used. A native T&L rendering module supports per pixel shaders and bone calculation directly on advanced graphic cards.

In the game the player can choose from one of the four conflicting parties: ED - after the destruction of the EARTH, the leaders of the Eurasian Dynasty escaped on board an evacuation fleet. Now they are fighting for the survival of the human species. Their base is one large building comprising of smaller variable parts.

Features:
  • LC - This peace loving Matriarchal society must fight to find a new base and home after the destruction of the Earth. LC buildings have few possibilities to upgrade, therefore, the ability to lift off and move quickly to a new location.
  • UCS - these machines evolved from the UCS battle machines. During the long flight to Mars, the computer decided to kill all human survivors and start conquering the Solar system with its own mechanical army.
  • Aliens - alien renegades were imprisoned a long ago time in the history of Mars. In 2160 landing UCS ships awoke them from their deep sleep. Now they are trying to escape their prison and to establish new bases in the solar system.
  • All character parties have the possibility of developing new technologies. Work on technologies are done in research centers on the planet surfaces. Each species can develop as many technologies at one time as they have technology centers. They will have access to technology trees to manage work on new technologies.
  • New dimensions to the game will be created by using virtual agents. Agents are freelancers available for hire who help a player during the game. Each agent has different abilities (they can help with research, unit commands, increasing mining efficiency etc.) agents can be hired and fired during the game. Not all agents are available all the time. If an agent is hired by one player, it will not be available for the others.
