Description

This work provides an introduction to the ancient Maori ornaments which date, from the beginning of human settlement in New Zealand. These personal ornaments are quite different from the modern Maori ornaments, and it feaures photographs of pieces in the collection of the Auckland Museum.

This is the fourth title in this simple series on aspects of Maori craft. The ornaments range from rare twin-lobed pendants, imitation whale tooth forms in stone and bone and whale ivory.
