A worthwhile purchase if ease of transport is what you are looking for. The mat can be folded or rolled-up and will still lay nicely on a flat surface afterwards. The addition of an area to keep track of spent actions is also a particular advantage of the mat. However, if you are playing at home I would still recommend using the board version. The scale of the mat is different from the board, with the hexes being ~20% larger. The graphics are also slightly blurred on mat which may annoy some people. In summary, if you require an easily transportable playing area or a way to manage spent actions, then the mat is a solid investment. Otherwise continue using the board version.
