"Absolutely love this game"

Deus Ex 2: Invisible War is an excellent game. It is not a simple FPS although it does have that component … it is engaging in terms of he story line, interaction with other characters (in addition to killing them). No leading edge gaphics but damned good anyway.

I agree with some of the comments made by Anonymous from Napier. This game got slammed big time by people, particularly those in the US who had to put up with the early version (re: unpatched), and rightly so.

Yes, it has been simplified and I don't think that all of the changes are for the best, but that said, it's still a very good game.

"An awesome game"

An awesome game, well worth the money unlike some others. You don't have to blast everything in sight to win … in fact it is fun to take over some of the enemies and use them to blast the rest :)

"Worth the hardware it demands!"
4 stars"

Deus Ex 2 is one of those “hard to put down once you start” games. I became addicted to this game very quickly after being engrossed in the story-line. Choices you make as you play, who to trust, which path to follow, great graphics all make up a great sequel to the first Deus Ex game. Yes you do need a high-end PC if you want to play with plenty of graphic goodies running but its worth it! I would have loved a multi-player option :)

"You got machine, we got game!"
5 stars"

These comments apply to version 1.2 of Deus Ex:IW, which will be the version released in New Zealand.

If you have played the demo you will have already formed an opinion about the game, which is a shame as the full (patched) version is a very good game.

I think that the designers have basically decided to drop the RPG aspect of the original game, and instead have created a great Action game based around the same gameplay mechanics of the first game. So now you are only limited by your own skill rather than that of the character you are playing. I think this is a positive change, but it has been slammed in various Internet forums (including Eidos's own forums). If you need any proof that this is now an action game you only need to play the first level, which was clearly inspired by the opening of Half-Life.

I'll briefly finish with some changes introduced in the patched (Euro/NZ) version. In-game font is smaller, bloom now produces a sharp image, taser is a quicker takedown, HUD is larger, so basically any gripe that was made by a small group of people.

One final word of warning, even with the patch this game needs topline hardware. If you want to play at 1024×768 (or higher!?), then you will need a GeForce FX 5900, anything less and you will have to play at lower resolutions. In its defense the game still looks great at the default resolution.
