Jazz was the first form of music truly indigenous to the USA and it has had a resounding influence on musical styles worldwide. Having started in the red-hot clubs of New Orleans, it soon found its way to Chicago. Some of the great names that played in the Windy City included: Jelly Roll Morton, "King" Oliver, Benny Goodman and Louis Armstrong.
