Description

Eugene V. Debs was a famous figure in the American labor movement. He was a Socialist, five time candidate for U.S. President. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, under the Espionage Act, for a speech he gave in Canton, Ohio on June 16, 1918 before the State Convention of the Socialist Party of Ohio. The appendix is the speech, plus the indictment, signed by Mr. Justice Holmes.
