Description

DEAR CHOIR MS. by Lyn Snyder is a comical collection of fictional letters between a woman choirmaster and members of her church that often conveys a real message about the outrageous behavior of church-goers - and non-goers - alike. An eclectic group of characters write to the Choir Ms. on topics ranging from their children's prodigious talents to detailed drawings of how the choir should be 'arranged' to look more presentable from the pews. Choir Ms. writes back with a mischievous, tongue-in-cheek aplomb that shows off her wit in every single answer.

Author Biography:

Lyn Snyder showed her interest in choral music early, as president of the Wellesley College Choir, while majoring in German. Later she was a Fulbright Fellow at Heidelberg University and wrote teaching materials for the Eisenhower Administration. She and her family eventually moved to Coronado, California, where she was the Minister of Music for a Presbyterian church for fourteen years, part of that time also serving as Director of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions in San Diego county. She has sung in numerous choruses, including the San Diego Master chorale, the Canterbury Choral Society in New York City, and countless church choirs - "some very good, and some that had the vocal discipline of ten drunks on a street corner". Now retired, she lives in Jupiter, Florida with her husband, Les, and their Dachshund Mitzi.
