Author Biography

ROALD DAHL was born in 1916 in Wales of Norwegian parents. He began writing after a 'momumental bash on the head' sustained during WW2. ROALD DAHL is one of the most successful and well-known of all children's writers. He died in 1990. Read by Timothy West: Timothy West is one of Britain's most eminent theatre and television stars. He has appeared in numerous Shakespeare productions both on stage and screen, most recently in King Lear for the English Touring Theatre. Other stage credits include leading roles in The Master Builder, The External and Luther. His films include Iris, Joan of Arc, The Day of the Jackal and 102 Dalmations and television appearances include Bedtime and Murder in Mind.
