A MultiMediaCard is a solid-state disk card with a 7-pin connector. The pins provide a connection between the memory and your electronic device. MultiMediaCards are used more like a hard drive than RAM. They are designed with flash technology, a non-volatile storage solution that does not lose its information when power is removed from the card. The cards contain no moving parts and are extremely rugged, providing much greater data protection than conventional magnetic disk drives.

MultiMediaCards are commonly used in portable devices such as digital cameras, digital music players, and personal digital assistants (PDAs). When buying MultiMediaCards, be sure it is the type of memory card your device uses most cameras and other devices can accept only one type of card (MultiMediaCard, CompactFlash card, or Secure Digital card). (Information about which memory cards your system uses is included in the Crucial Memory Advisor tool.)

Crucial MultiMediaCards weigh just 2 grams and are about the size of a postage stamp: 1.26 inches long, 0.94 inches high, and 0.06 inches thick (32 mm by 24 mm by 1.4 mm).
