Description

Written with the absolute beginner in mind, Crochet 101 teaches all the basics for learning to crochet with step-by-step instructions and photographs. Crochet 101 will teach you to crochet through engaging projects, beginning with easy designs for early success and moving on to progressively more difficult patterns as you master the techniques. New skills are explored in depth as they are introduced. The most comprehensive beginner's book available, Crochet 101 begins with an introductory section covering all the basics of crochet: selecting yarn, hook types and sizes, other tools and accessories, crochet gauge, chaining, forming the basic stitches, and reading patterns. Companion online video tutorials demonstrate the essential techniques to make your introduction to crochet complete. All the information you need to get started with crochet is contained in this captivating guide.

Author Biography:

Deborah Burger is the author of Crochet 101 and How to Make 100 Crochet Appliques. She learned to crochet from her grandmother at age 12. While she has found enjoyment in many fiber, textile, and other art forms, crochet remains her lifelong favorite. She has been teaching crochet for more than 20 years, through Girl Scouting, various community centers, summer camps, at Charlotte's Fibers (a yarn shop in Western North Carolina), and the John C. Campbell Folk School. She is active in the online community, Ravelry, and has written articles and patterns for Interweave Crochet and the e-zines, Crochet Insider, and Crochet Uncut.
