Introducing the World's First GPU!
The 3D Blaster GeForce is a truly unique graphics accelerator. At the heart of this incredible game accelerator is the world's first GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) - the GeForce 256® processor from NVIDIA. 3D gaming will never be the same again.
Many of today's 3D game accelerator are simply a rendering engine, forced to rely on the CPU to handle the critical steps of transform and lighting. In order to support the widest possible audience, developers had no choice but to limit the number of polygons and objects they included in a scene, with the unfortunate result that games are not as richly detailed or immersive. With GeForce, the entire 3D pipeline is handled on the card, freeing the CPU - and the developer - to create richer, more detailed worlds, with improved physics and better AI. In short, to deliver realistic gameplay.
Designed and Built By Creative
The 3D Blaster GeForce is designed and built in our world-class engineering and manufacturing facitilities by some of the best engineers in the world. Meticulous attention to detail ensures the highest quality components used, right to the heat-dissipating PCB design.
Inherently Parallel, but Completely Unparalled The GeForce 256 sports a new QuadEngine design, with separator engines for transformation, lighting setup, and rendering, providing an incredibly efficient rendering architecture capable of handling up to 15 million triangles per second. Each engine runs in parallel with the next, maximizing throughput and boosting performance to new heights. This unparalleled new chip is made up of more than 23 million transistors - that's more than twice as complex as a Pentium III !
Four independent 3D Rendering Engines The 256-bit QuadPipe rendering engine is made up of four independent 3D rendering engines, each working in parallel to deliver 480 million fully rendered pixels per second. Each pixel is rendered in full 32-bit color, including complex textures effects like 8-tap anisotropic filtering, stencil, and dot-product bump-mapping without sacrificing performance.
What Do You Want To Do Today? With the 3D Blaster GeForce, you can do more than play games. There's a full 2D accelerator for Windows on board, as well as support for a full OpenGL ICD so you can use GeForce for CAD/CAM design, or even just spreadsheets. But when you're tired of working, and looking for fun, the GeForce is ready. You'll get support for all major 3D APIs, including Microsoft DirectX 7 and OpenGL.
With InterVideo WinDVD playback technology included, you can even watch DVD movies on your computer.* The 3D Blaster GeForce includes support for MPEG2 playback, including an 8:1 scaling engine so you can switch from a small window to full screen without losing any image fidelity. * DVD playback requires DVD-ROM drive
Declare Your Independence Moors's Law says that CPUs will double in performance every 18 months. In that same time span, 3D rendering performance has grown by a factor of more than 8! The CPU just can't keep up longer. So, declare your independence from the CPU! Get a 3D Blaster GeForce, featuring the GeForce 256 - the world's first GPU. Whether you're overclocking the latest Pentium III or still hanging on to your "old" Pentium II, you'll get better performance, better looking images, and support for the coolest games and hottest technologies
