It is an entertaining story of how the kids find a mysterious feather while out treasure hunting in the woods. They discover it is a rare Whooping Crane feather and track the actual cranes. Together they figure out how to make the public care about Whooping Cranes preservation. They do it on their own with minimal adult help. All the while treasure hunting. Author Biography:

Kevin VanWicklin is a professional artist, author and illustrator living in New Mexico. He credits his varied experiences as artist and teacher along with his lifelong interest in birds for the inspiration behind Crane Songs. Making the world a better place within the framework of fun times for a multicultural group of kids is his goal. Christine Steiner developed educational strategies and interpretative approaches for museum visitors of all ages as Curator of Education at the Albuquerque Museum. Her publications include museum teacher guides for the schools and exhibition-related interpretive materials. Her doctorate from Florida State University is in Art Education and Arts Administration. Currently she heads Good Fun Books in Corrales, NM
