The Cape Verde singer, Cesária Évora, is treated to a host of remixers, treating her vocals with great reverence. It takes an open mind to hear the “Queen of Morna”, nicknamed the “Barefoot Diva”, remixed and pro-tooled by today's hot remix stars. The great opening “Petit Pays” by Chateau Flight comes in mesmerizingly different beat with a hypnotic background trance. Carl Craig takes “Angola” back to Africa with a minimal and percussion-heavy mix. The real club-stormer is Francois K's take on the final track “Sangue De Beirona,” a strong example of how to move Evora's voice onto the main floor, where she belongs. In 2013 Belgian singer Stromae recorded “Ave Cesaria”, a track that honours Évora, one of his favorite artists.
