This study integrates climatology and meteorology to present an introduction to the study of the atmosphere. Explanations of basic principles, concepts and processes are supported by illustrations and case studies demonstrating the relevance of weather and climate to issues in ordinary life - skin cancer, crop growth, weather forecasting, air pollution. Focussing particularly on the Southern hemisphere, the authors insights into topcal environmental concerns including: climate change, global warming, hazards, sustainable population, environmental degradation, agriculture and drought.
