The Mortal Instruments series is really great and addictive! It's a mixed love story and after the first book you want to read them all!!

Far better than Twilight as there is no annoying Jacob, I recommend this series to any Twilight fan!

Cassandra Clare has given each character an individual personality and it's easy to relate to the problems Clary and Jace face. Simon also has a huge part and ends up being a hero.

This is absolutely fantastic! :]

"Boo twilight!!!"

The mortal instruments is a great series. Fans of twilight and harry potter will be at home with these books. Cant wait for the movies (hopefully they get made, I mean come on, they made twilight, so why not these?!)

"A fine example of the genre - better then Twilight."
5 stars"

This is definitely a great start to a wonderful series, in which I think most importantly the characters are well rounded and completely relate-able, even if there is a lot of supernatural. Unlike Twilight with all of its angst and uncanny knack for everything to fall into place without the MC's even trying this is a novel filled with developments, not just in the romance department that need to be overcome. In fact other plot developments are of equal importance, and just as engrossing as the romantic aspect.

If you enjoyed Twilight – or even if you thought the series was a bit lacking and are looking for more, then I certainly recommend the whole series to you. Seriously, just get all three – it will save you pining for the next one.

A witty, action-packed urban fantasy of vampires, warlocks and shapeshifters that fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will adore.

Clary Fray is an ordinary teenager, but everything changes the night she witnesses a murder, committed by a group of teens. The group are Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to driving demons out of this dimension and back into their own. Drawn inexorably into a terrifying world, Clary slowly begins to learn the truth about her family – and the battle for the fate of the world.

Discover the secrets of the Shadowhunters as they wage a terrifying war to keep the world safe from demons in the first sensational book in the Mortal Instruments trilogy.

About the series

“The Mortal Instruments series is a story world I want to live in” Stephenie Meyer, author of ‘Twilight’.

“Funny, dark and sexy … Cassie's writing makes my toes curl with envy.” Holly Black, author of “The Spiderwick Chronicles”.

“Like “Twilight,” vampires and werewolves populate The Mortal Instruments’s fantasy world, but the trilogy – which wraps up with the March 24 release of “City of Glass” – is chiefly concerned with more heavenly matters: the nephilim, humans with angel blood in their veins. The series follows 15-year-old Brooklyn girl Clary Fray’s whirlwind introduction to the world of Shadowhunters, nephilim warriors who protect oblivious humans from dangers presented by vamps, werewolves and other kinds of baddies. If you thought that human Bella and vampire Edward’s relationship was fraught with issues, imagine how much more traumatic it is for Clary to find out that the guy she’s in love with might just be…”-The New York Post
