Description

Set in a beautiful park in the heart of England, Charlecote Park seems to embody the Golden Age of the first Queen Elizabeth. The ancient Warwickshire countryside has a timeless quality with its meandering waterways, venerable trees, wildlife and waterfowl. Fallow deer crop the lush grass along the banks of the River Avon, which flows through the park and on to Stratford-upon-Avon some five miles away. This quiet house holds surprising treasures, from early editions of Shakespeare to the impressive Beckford table. Generations of Lucys have left their mark on the house, which is personal testimony to the family's evolving tastes, lifestyle and fortunes. Its romanticised re-creation of the Tudor age reflects the Victorian spirit of modernisation and the aspirations of Mary Elizabeth Lucy.
