Description

Solid state physics is the largest branch of condensed matter physics and arguably underpins all materials science research. It is the study of any solid system for which there are currently numerous applications, but also underpins fundamental research by providing an experimental framework in which to test new theories. The aim of this book will be to familiarise students with the application of various experimental methods in solid state research and provide readers with the tools to critically appraise an experiment in the context of the capabilities of the equipment involved. Augmented with data and exercises the book will be essential reading for anyone embarking on a career with condensed matter and materials science or as a reference for active scientists.
