A moderate complexity strategy game where 1–4 players take turns building rooms in their castle, with the objective of building the best castle according Mad King Ludwig's tastes.
There are a tile placement/auction/bonus for room completion and bonus for types aspects to this game that make it quite fun to play. Players take turns as the master builder, where you set the price for different rooms that are in the current list to buy, with a trade off – you want people to buy rooms but not the rooms you want, and you want them to pay as much as possible, but have to be careful not to set the price so high they decide to take something else since the master builder gets all the money people have paid for their rooms that round and then gets to buy last from the rooms the other players rejected.
During the game you get bonuses for room completion (completing all exits from a room) depending on the type of room, including an extra buy, extra money, extra hidden objective bonus cards, or a free corridor.
This game is quite fun and ends up with sometimes quite mad looking castles – suitable since the winner of this game is the person that has built their castle to best meet the approval of Mad King Ludwig's tastes which change every game.
