Well, here I go again. Anybody reading reviews for bad Italian shockers will find that I am clearly a watcher of such lurid celluloid abominations. Cannibal Ferox was banned in many countries for many years. It's grim, nasty, un-necessary and strangely compelling. There is definitely an art to the Italian Horror, particularly from the mid-70's into the early 80's. It seems that a no-holds-barred approach to film was running rampant during that era. When you hear about mainstream films like “Saw 3” having such a horrendous impact on audiences, you have to wonder how far we are going to push the boundaries. But If you've ever watched “Cannibal Ferox” or any similar cannibal flick from Italy from the afore-mentioned era, you'll know what I mean when I say that mainstream audiences ain't seen nothing! This film should be watched by the stronger-gutted folk. Really.
