"Great"

Brilliant game, short campaign but what do you expect from a war game. But even though the campaign is short its good and replayable in co-op. Great online play as expected from a cod game . And Nazi Zombies will keep you going for hours Its that awesome.

"Peak of World War Perfection"
5 stars"

When Treyarch seemed to disappoint many Call of Duty fans with the release of Call of Duty 3 with a respectable but not a very high standard of quality they certainly redeemed themselves when they gave it another go. After the release of Call of Duty World at War fans were amazed how much they improved the overall performance, game engine and graphics to give them the respect they finally deserve. I personally found the game a necessary buy it satisfied the passion for a descent Historic War FPS and Online Multiplayer that is also Australasian Friendly, No need to be frustrated over international hosts.

"Excellent game but short campaign"
5 stars"

COD5 is an excellent game. There are some truly awesome fire fights and the graphics are top notch. Just the right amount of gore to make you feel you are dealing out some pain too. The music though awesome does in a way feel a little out of place being that the game is set in world war II and there is like metal guitar riffs playing during a battle!

The only issues I have is that it took me less than 5 hours to complete the game on normal and with basically no real driving story it felt like I had not accomplished anything. I also felt a little ripped off for the $129.95 price tag! So if you just want to play through the campaign rent this game. The only reason I can see in buying this game is for the multiplayer and I have not played that yet so I will not comment.

In my opinion COD4 is still the best of the COD series in that it has modern weapons, the best game play and just has excellent value for money.

"Worth cheeking out"

As this game has the original zombies I would recomend this game to players trying to get a feel for zombies in black ops and also for the limited online play this game offers due to numbers but is still worth this amount.

"Good, gritty WW2 shooter"
4 stars"

There was (and still is) a lot of debate surrounding Treyarch's decision to shift the COD series back into WWII. Personally I felt it to be a bit of a step backward, being that the market is flooded with games from this era in history (Medal of Honor, Brothers in Arms), but given the positive reviews it's had, I thought I'd at least give it a go.

For those of you who take stock of your gamerscore, this is a good title to get stuck into. A majority of the achievements are gained from the solo campaign, by completing missions on Veteran difficulty with a few more bonus achievements thrown in.

The Veteran difficulty is a real challenge, and I found myself stuck in intense fighting for hours trying to get through a part in a particular mission where every action was met with a wall of bullets. Persistence is key here, as often you'll slog for hours to get through one part, only to have four grenades appear on your danger indicator in the next, and no matter where you run, one of them sends you skyward and you have to start again. (F%#K!!!).

The AI can be a bit frustrating too, as there were countless times I'd line up a target in the midst of some intense fighting, only to have one of the AI controlled NPC's on my side jump in the way.

However, with those two points noted, World at War is a very challenging, intensive and rewarding shooter with a couple of extras (multiplayer Nazi Zombies anyone?) to keep you entertained.

"A vast improvement, butnot the best."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I was extremely disappointed with Treyarch's Call of Duty 3, but Treyarc have indeed done themselves prod with Call of Duty: World at War. Its an intense and well-rounded WWII shooter.

The graphics are great, and the settings superb. I especially loved the plane rescue mission. Fantastic effort that reminded me much of the CoD:UO bomber mission.

BUT! And there is always a but. Its definitely no Infinity Ward game. CoD4 blew me away. Why? Not because it was modern but because the story was deep. You actually be-friended the characters. In CoD5, when some of the main characters get KIA I felt nothing, because you never get attached in any way. The Russian campaign had the better of the two when it came to character building, but didn't match up to CoD4.

Overall a great game, but I think we'll see a lot better from Infinity Ward's next release.

"Stunning Graphics is all I can describe it with.... Beautiful"

Just love the weapons, the Add-on, Nazi Zombies. Just love the custom weapon packs in multiplayer and how its a complete remake of the war itself.

"AMAZING"
5 stars"

ok so if you like first person shooters you will love this game.

it combines a realistic war situation with all the fun of being shot and not being killed in real life (because real life doesnt have a respawn point)

the graphics of the game are above par in the way that they still have pretty good graphics without compramising gameplay!

one player is pretty amazing in this game but it doesnt last long enough. all in all this is really an online game so get some good internet and start playing… you will love it just like everyone else.....

"Great game but lacking online feel"
4 stars"

The single player campaign is excellent however i have found that online it is far too dark, and is hard to see people. I have also found a lack of different maps, but overall is still good online.

"Retro action at it's best"

Die, Nazi zombies, die! The range of weapons combined with the realism of their inherent inaccuracies of use (try hitting a barn door with an overheated machine gun!) add to the overall fun of this go-for-it, gutsy shooter. The bonus of being able to mindlessly wipe out neverending waves of mindless zombies gives this package an edge over many similar games. Graphics are not altogether great but it is fun to play.

"Great but a few glitches"
4 stars"

Great graphics, great campaign, huge weapon selection and Nazi zombies is the best add on ever. Only thing is over-gore, once I shot a zombie in the arm and his leg went flying off. Should totally be R18.

"The best COD yet."
5 stars"

COD5 is in my opnion, the best Call Of Duty in the market to date. Everyone seems to claim Modern Warfare takes this title, because it uses a modern setting, and that it seems to have more character-build.

Personally, i found COD5 to be far more fun (since i prefer a good M1 Garand over some big chunky rifle that can take anything out in one hit), and i also found the characters alot better in this one, especially considering Keifer Sutherland voices one of them.

If youre looking for a good replayable WW2 shooter, great graphics, enjoyable multiplayer and some easy achievements – then this game has it all.

"WWII vs modern"
5 stars"

I love WWII theme so I'll have to say COD5 is better than COD4, most people i know complain the ammo to hold, speed to reload and hard to aim. Thats the best part of the game. you have to aim good, you are talking about WWII.

The only let down is the co-op. I suppose not many people will look into the split screen co-op as nowadays everyone goes online. But the decision of using left/right split and not top/bottom split is annoying, you cant see much since there's only enough room for your character, and without a map you're just another moving target to be shoot at, not the other way round.

Overall, I give it 5 stars, 4 for the game play, the extra star is for going back to WWII story line.

"Pretty decent 2008 WW2 shooter."
4 stars"

One of the last decent WW2 shooters before the transition to the “modern” and “future” era. Not as groundbreaking as Cod4 nor a significant step up from it or the next COD, MW2.

Even though it's an older game, it's still an amazing addition to the Call of Duty series. Can't get enough of multiplayer or zombies!
