"Probably a rushed re-skin with nothing new"

Here we go again..... Another cheap copy of the same game which Activision has been churning out for the last 4 years. Sure we might get a couple of new overpowered killstreaks and perks and maybe even a stupidly overpowered weapon that was not thought through at all (Model 1887's, UMP45, MP40, AK74U, FAMAS etc) but in reality it is virtually the exact same game we bought last year, and the year before that, and the year before that… I'm sure it will be a decent game but I for one refuse to pay full retail price (and a bit more) for what is essentially an expansion pack for MW2. Maybe i'll rent it and see what its like but I will not get sucked into giving Activision another cent until I see what I am paying for. I'm not that stupid. The question is, are you-

Oh and @Nikko, how can you possibly give a 9.5/10 rating to a game which hasn't even been released yet- writing that makes your whole comment bias and also, BFBC2 won awards for its audio. If you insist on insulting other games and sending hate messages, get your facts right and find a better place to do it than the ‘preview’ section of an online store.

"Poor Infinity Ward"
4 stars"

Battlefield 3 has been under development for around and above of 4 years. Infinity makes a not so great CoD every 2 years because of their horned, fork tongued, fire breathing developer Activision, whose sole aim is to bi-annually snatch $130 from every greasy faced, buck toothed 12 year old in existence.

If you were told to make a blockbuster game in under two years, with an intense multiplayer while also adhering to beck and call of every fan on the planet, you'd be making a few mistakes too. The graphics are crap because frankly there is no time in 2 years to write code for another engine. Why do you think EA gave the Sweden DICE team twice as long to make BF3– Dont blame Infinity ward, feel sorry for them.

This game looks exactly the same as its predecesor because they realised how unbalanced MW2 was and have spent most of their time and money on fixing this (thanks to Activition's generosity… not!) by making the game more complex, they have made it harder to balance, CoD4 is good because its simple.

For only 2 years in development and limited/inexperienced staff (remember the lawsuit Activision put up involving the postponment of DLC by Infinity's directors to help DICE get BBC2 of the ground-) this game will still be awesomely entertaining and do an adequate job of living up to the franchise. As long as your expectations are reasonable.

"Rent It"
2 stars"

Looks like the same thing on a different disk :( I might just rent it just to see how the storyline plays out. Not sure if I want to pay $100+ for (map packs) if you know what I mean.

"Stupidity of some people!"
5 stars"

@Nikko Call of duty is an excellent franchise. And I am sure that other people are huge fans of other game series. If you like a specific game, then all you need to do is just talk about the game you like, not thrash other's favorite games (remember I am also a call of duty fan, with some common sense).

@Jackson Speak for yourself. Do not involve others in your silly little comment. Buying a game early does not make one stupid. All that matters is if the person enjoys the game.

Personally, I think this game will be awesome and will be preordering this.

"Overpriced Update"
3 stars"

Call of Duty has always had a fantastic single player. But to be honest the only reason most people buy this game is for the online multiplayer. From what I can see, they have overhauled the multiplayer, adding in new features and weapon evolution systems. With most other games, small updates like this would be free DLC. However because this is the Call of Duty franchise they can charge $130 for the same game with a few improved features. They can do this because they are Activision and they know how the consumer's brain works. It's a real shame to see so many people throw their money at this ridiculously overpriced game.

My partner works in retail, and she has said that the majority of pre-orders for this game are mothers buying the game for their underaged son so that they can ‘fit in’. It's a real shame that a once great franchise has become nothing more than a fad.

"CAN'T WAIT FOR COD!!"
5 stars"

I don't no why there are so many haters of call of duty. In my opinion it has to be one of the best fps ever! I'm not saying i hate battlefeild but battlefeilds gameplay plays to slow for me ( mainly because of the giant map sizes ) ...... i dont know about you guys but i can't wait for this Game!! :P

"It is mw3"
5 stars"

I loved the modern warfare 2 and played it over and over, if it didnt get so outdated by black ops I would still be playing it, by having mw3 come out shines much light on us hard core players who have been waiting for another mw not a totally different game.

So just remember if your not looking for a modern warfare then stay away from them

"Don't screw it up again Infinity Ward"
1 stars"

I am long time fan of Call of Duty and will be buying this day one. After Mw2 though I am not keen on spending any extra on hardened edition. Mw2 had the potential to be the best COD ( great map, fluent controls and good hit detection) but Infinity Ward's lack of post game launch support ruined the game for me. I know a lot of the game breaking things in Mw2 (commando, one many army noobtube, shotgun secondaries etc) are gone but I know (like all the other COD's) there will be some things in the game that are unbalanced and I just hope they actually do something about it this time.

From what I have seen though, this is shaping up to be quite a good game and it will be interesting to see whether this remains the king of FPS's or BF3 take the reign.

"played it at cod xp, nothing worth buying about"
1 stars"

i went to la for cod xp and got hands on with mw3 there ,and was quite dissapointed ,it just felt exatcly like mw2 but on a diffrent map,the only ok thing was special ops but even that felt … bad , not worth it over all the hype

"Not on the edge of my seat......"

Im not going to rate this because lets face it, rating this before any real info comes out is just misguided and lame.

If we're looking at this based on previous games we can say Single Player is going to be really awesome (watching the teaser trailer backs that up). Apparently this single player is going to end the modern warfare story once and for all and the single player stories have been great in epic proportion. If you played them you know what I mean, if not go get the previous ones for the single player.

But with most COD games the multiplayer is what draws most people in. MW2 was the first COD game I actually stopped playing half a year through. With massive explosive damage, overpowered weapon attachments, and cheap perks I found it was a game for beginners to the FPS genre. However MW3 could be different and maybe infinity ward listened to the masses of complaints on their website.

Definitely keep yourself updated on this game because it is going to be big. You might want to wait for some real info on this game before you pre order it but hey remember its always cheaper from mighty ape the earlier you get it :D

"MW3 Will be the game of the year!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I've watched all the trailers, read all the information about this game and it will definitely top the game list for 2011. (This is for the online multi-player)

They have 2× new modes implemented into the online multiplayer which is KILL CONFIRM and TEAM DEFENDER!

Kill Confirm – Your team doesn`t get the kill points until you collect the dog tags that the enemy player you killed dropped, of course if your team mate dies and you collect their dropped dog tags, then you deny the kill points.

Team defender – Is like capture the flag, however instead of taking the flag back to your teams flag, you have to hold the flag and the longer your team as the flag in their possession the more points your team acquires.

16 new maps, new perks, kill streaks, and also in MW3 you not only level up your player but you also level up your favourite guns. They have a Prestige store that you use tokens to buy new perks, or extra perks. If you have ever prestige any level in all the other COD games (COD4, WAW, BLACKOPS .. Etc) you automatically receive 1 token for each game. (not sure how they are doing that yet – maybe a data retriever in the store-)

2 new perks I like is the drone – which is like the RC-XD but instead of the drone blowing up, it can shoot people. The second one is the chopper; this one follows you around to protect you.

The rocket launcher attachment is gone and has been replaced with an EMP nade (correct me if I`m wrong) .. This will shut down all electronics in its radius. (pretty dope if you ask me! Especially for sentry guns)

There is so much to look forward to with the new MW3, from perks to kill streaks. FYI – Kill streaks have changed from how many kills you get to points streak, and if you take the supporting role, if you die, it doesn’t affect your point’s streak.

The creators have definitely taken into consideration players of all levels, so they get to experience the game in full. Like I said there is way too much to explain with perks and customization. People will complain that it has a MW2 feel but who really cares with this much fun on it-

Ive already pre-Ordered it and if you havent, you will definitely miss out on a great game! I've watched all the trailers, read all the information about this game and it will definitely top the game list for 2011. (This is for the online multi-player)

5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

the campagin was still short and easy but was longer than mw2 but no1 buys a cod game for the campaign. the online system is amazing with new perk and kill streaks (strike packages) new guns new maps. one of the best part was the special ops survival mode. it is better than zombie and i seemed to spend more time on surival than normal online this game has been impressive wouldnt suprise if it got game of the year

"Hope Im Right"
4 stars"

Yeah I am definately a fan of mw2, and battlefield for that matter. Black ops was a major letdown I spent most of the time playing gun game. And despite the old “its going to be exactly the same as mw2” dig wich may turn out to be true there is no replacement for the intense action and gripping campaign that modern warfare delivers.

I am looking foward to its release as much as I did mw2 and hope that it delivers once again.

If you expect this to be different in any way to its predecessors, you'd be wrong. This isn't a game you buy for the singleplayer; this is one of those games, or ‘thee’ game, you're going to buy for its multiplayer component. It's gonna' be fun for sure, just don't expect a ‘great’ game.

"It Will be Good."

although people are complaining about how MW3 will be like MW2 i think that it will be just as fun and enjoyable as MW2 was. This game will be just as fun as Battlefield 3 and i am guessing many people think the same. :)

"Anticipation"
4 stars"

Call of Duty 4 – Gameplay was good, multiplayer was awesome. Modern Warfare 2 – Gameplay was definitely better with a good storyline, multiplayer got better but had some HUGE flaws. Next thing you know we see Treyarch step in, Gameplay went down and Multiplayer didn't get any better. Now we see the arrival of one of the most anticipated games in 2011… Modern Warfare 3!

My opinion: “This is the make or break for Activision.”

The gameplay videos and Teaser looks average, not a good start for such a highly anticipated game. I will be purchasing this so I can play the campaigh and mulitplayer. I have seen some videos describing some of the changes and I keep myself updated with most news reports on MW3. I expect to see a realism in campaign gameplay as well as a storyline far superior to COD 4 and MW2 however I do not think this will be the case. As for multiplayer, I believe they are doing there best to change all the little annoyances in the game (Quickscoping, Commando knife, Overpowered Killstreaks).

All in all COD fans should by this game weather or not people put it down. It will be good to find out what happens to Sheppard and Makarov. Battlefield 3 fans, I suggest you hire before you buy. Everyone else keep reading previews and check out some online videos.

“Will Activision receive praise- Or will this be the end of Call of Duty-”

"A bit to fast dont you think"

I personally think this game is going to be no diffrent from mw2 maybe better graphics and a new guns but still the same gameplay feeling this is obviouse that activision is feeling the pressure from EA with battel field 3 which is going to dominate and take back number 1 on the fps id reccomend battel field2 to any one who wants a slight view of what bf3 will be like but just emagine it 10× better

"awesomeness arrives but at a cost"

True action gamers will get both, I know I will but whats up with the price. Are actvision that hard up that they ask us to pay that price-Even with the discount of $20 it is still more expensive than BF3.You can always gaurantee a fun fest of fragging fun with MW3 but at a cost.Hopefully with a bit of competition from BF3 ,which is out before MW3 ,they may drop the price. But wishfull thinking I think. And dont even mention the multiplayer premium DODGY subscription service------.

"Mm.. Debatable.. "
4 stars"

Well, im personally in a toss up between BF3 and MW3, I KNOW that they will both be great games, and hopefully this preview will help you decide!

MW2 was a great game, hell I still play it over black ops, its good fun, the single player in these games COULD definitely be better, but hey, beggars cant be choosers..

For BF3, it looks great, single player is amazing, and the online play looks very realistic and team based, all in all, a great game.

But back to MW3:

MW3's graphics don't look to much improved from MW2..

I played black ops for the Nazi zombies ONLY, everything else about it, well, MW2 was better at.. So with the combo of Nazi zombies and spec ops now in MW3's spec ops of endless waves, it has that awesome feature that I know I will play alot.

And I know I will like MW3, however, atm I can personally only afford MW3 or BF3, so im thinking I will get BF3 first, and then a month or so after, get MW2..

But don't get me wrong.. MW2 looks good, and looks like it could be a strong game that many people will like, but it seems rushed and not so much improved compared to MW2, but thats also because MW2 was a very good game and as I said, I still play its multiplayer to this very day…

From the trailers, and the things added to and the multiplayer gameplay videos that are circling around and how much I like MW2, im going to give this game a 4/5 stars, and in my honest opinion, thats being kind.

"Lame Killstreaks :L"

I heard there's no nuke :( and in saying that what's the point in having killstreaks at all… They better put something good to replace it with. Black Ops killstreaks were laame, I sold that game a few weeks after I got it, but I hope mw3 decides to put nuke in, it was such a good game ender :)

"Both good"

You all need to stop being fanboys. Both games are very different in their own way. BF3 is good for a slow paced game. And MW3 is good for a fast paced game. Both different. I for one will be buying both and will be playing them depending if I feel like I want a long game or a short one. Get both, you'd be stupid not to. There's no point in arguing which is better, buy both and enjoy actually spending your time playing it instead of arguing which is better.

"Special-Ops-"

Black Ops had it's moments but Modern Warfare 2 for me was the better choice. Zombies was cool and in multiplayer you had a few more options in terms as gamepley (like how your equipment ie. clamores and c4s and stuff are seperate from youre granades. Oh and combat training was pretty cool). But MW2 had better guns (shotgun for a sidearm anyone), better maps and was overall more fun. But the main thing I liked about MW2, and what really made it unique was the Special Ops. So here's me hoping that they bring back spec-ops in the MW3. I for now ain't in too much of a hurry to get this yet untill I know for certain that Special-Ops is included. Hopefully even better than in number 2.

"I'm sorry 'Miss' Jackson..."
2 stars"

But Infinity ward have been working on MW3 since MW3 and by all accounts have delivered more of the same – a product that will beloved by fast-paced, hi-intensity, online team war junkies…

Praising EA for a four year cycle is a bit of a joke… who wants any engine that started four years ago- And EA!- The biggest consumer rooters of all-time- P-leeeaaaase…

It will also have a polished offline portion, while BFBC2 didn't have either of, nor it's sequel, BF3…

This is not fanboyism… I have owned both, but only own MW2 now (26 maps guys – 26) and have preordered this… I didn't mind the ‘unbalanced’ online of MW2 – as I was the one dealing it out, lol… A game isn't good if it doesn't give you hard knocks in the learning curve… I perservered. BFBC2 allowed for straight hiding and letting the whole game pass you by… that serves no one and improves nothing.

I don't like city block maps like BF3, it is just an opinion… if you had forty minutes, maybe… I don't hate campers or ‘noob’ tubers because it is legit, it is war not the olympics… and so MW3 will, I hope, deliver again…

I am no COD fanboy – I hated Black Ops and World at War… hated. I just know and love class… BFBC2 had promise… MW2 was waaaayyy better and more fun in my opinion, smoother gameplay and flow… you didn't get consistently spawn/cheat killed… The servers are very good (if have decent connection) etc

Unless your environment just HAS to be destructible (lol) and you are happy with 720p etc, get the better game. I think between BF3 and MW3, this will be it. That;s my both my gut instinct and my hope. But it's a free world peoples…

So you are free to make the wrong choice… lol

*-)

"O my"

I am a huge call of duty fan as i really don't think much of the Battlefield series. I have watched many Cod XP videos and can really only see MW2.5 but what's wrong wiht that MW2 was and is amazing and this only really looks like a thouroughly improved and re-vamped version of the classic.

Basically, MW2 has been cleaned, no more stopping power, commando, last stand and no more PAIN KILLER! Too be honest if you're only considering buying this game you need t re-watch the two videos on this page because right here is a contender for game for the year.

So pre-order now!!!

"An online great for the next year"
4 stars"

I've watched enough youtube videos, listening to gamers talk about their CoDxp to know that the work has been done. A lot of thought has been put into making online play balanced and fun. New game modes have been extremely well recieved.

Over the Christmas period a LOT of people are going to get MW3 so lobbys will be booming, and most people seem to get sick of these games as online multiplayer dies off, think about it, when you first got MW2 or Black Ops it was awesome because all your friends played it. That's how these things work. Call of Duty may be trendy as they get but that's why you have to buy this.

Sure the price is high, but that's how you get your fun. I'm sure if you've got the time to play you'll forget all your worries and prejudices and feel the money well spent.

I'll definitely be buying it (after I play through AC:R and Skyrim)

I wish I had more money.

Oh and single player has been consistantly awesome throughout the CoD franchise so expect good things from that too.
