Technically excellent it still comes across rather dry. The graphics are a little dated now after HL2 but still manage well. The sound is great with the orchestral pieces reminding me of “Band of Brothers”. Gameplay is great, AI is quite good. Not bad value when you're getting both games together as well.
But… it didn't hold my attention like Medal of Honor. It would cut between 3 different story lines and several different heros. When you don't know if the NPC's are talking to you because your name just changed for the 5th time you know something is wrong. It really took the drama out of what should be a very dramatical game. Movies certainly don't play like that.
I guess if I had taken each mission as it's own game the lack of continuity wouldn't have been noticed. It's got some real nice touches too. Like the anti-war slogans from famous generals appearing on a black background whenever you die.
Most levels are pitched at the right difficulty level. About 2 are downright impossible without a cheat activated. It's really obvious when you get to them that something isn't right.
There were a couple of “wow” scenes that are really cool. Worth seeing at some point.
