Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Classics) reviews

COD4 (call of duty 4) is one of the best games ever. Not only does it have an epic campaign but has the best online multiplayer. With the level up system you start off not interested but then you play it a little more and unlock the create class system which just addicts you to it.

COD4 truly deserves its title of GOTY, due to its stunning graphics, intense realism and cinematic beauty. Although, the campaign is rather short as people say, try tackling it on the ‘Veteran’ difficulty, you'll spend days trying to get from checkpoint to checkpoint.

Multiplayer is very fun, and rewarding to keep playing, since you unlock different classes, match types and privileges as you play gain ranks, its just a shame that the majority of the xbox live community seem to think that anyone that is a low rank deserves to be abused and groaned at just for not being a high rank like them.

Definitely worth purchasing this game, although its short, its very replayable (especially the parts when you play USMC).

The ultimate Call of Duty classic, before Modern Warfare 2, before Black Ops and World at War! This set the precedent for everything to follow, and emphasis on the word follow! MW2 followed up COD4 in excellent style and gameplay online and off but this is where it started, COD4 is still online playable to this day, and is hands down better than the noob-oriented MW3 and even Ghosts. Ghosts is ok. Maps make a break a game's multiplayer as far as I am concerned. I don't care how good the game is, or how good or cool the weapons are, or the customization or whatever, if the maps suck, if the maps have no purpose, no lines of sights, are full of corners for noobs to become corner-shooter-experts then that game or games has serious problems. This Cod4 and MW2 never suffered from.

The multiplayer play in this COD is still one of the most fun experiences that I have had, including modern COD games. Still fun to play offline, but the way the multiplayer mode is structured means that online play is extremely exciting and addictive. The single player is good fun, but over quite quickly. The gameplay screen is relatively simple but still this makes is streamlined and easy to play. Overall one of my favorite online first person shooters with a fun single player campaign.

This game made me really love Call of Duty and this is easily the best game. The story made me really like the characters and I got really interested in the whole campaign. The multiplayer is not complicated and has some really great new features like calling in Airstrikes and Attack Helicopters.

Call Of Duty 4 at first didn't do anything for me, it wasn't my type of game. After doing it on veteran setting all that changed, you have to be on your toes every step in the game and remember the golden rules of warfare.

I've played Call Of Duty 4 multiplayer online now since i've had it back in '07 and it never gets old. The only flaw for me would be when playing veteran that the enemies know where you are even before they've seen you, and a enemy chopper can shoot you through a wall without seeing you.

I hope Call Of Duy 6 doesn't have this problem.

A few people have mentioned length of the campaign. All I can say is, true it is not a lengthy single player campaign, but it is in engrossing and quite epic. I continue to play my favorite scenes as they are heaps of fun. It takes a while to get into multiplayer, but once you start to unlock some of the other matches you'll start to have fun. I just played my firsr big team flag deathmatch with 18 people online and it was a ball! This is a fantastic game and award-winning for many reasons.

The multiplayer of this game is what will keep you coming back for more, it's AWESOME! Much better than Halo 3's online, although, if you're looking for a team game with vehicles, Halo doesn't dissapoint, in fact that's the only part of CoD 4 that could've been better, they should've added vehicles, and bigger levels. Other than that it's damn awesome!

This title is almost flawless. Great Graphics,stunning environments action pact with a good storyline. Weapons available are detailed and accurate. Good to see some blood splatters and the bodies don't disappear. The sniper level is brilliant. I think the only downside for me is the lack of gore and i know this is only an opinion but for a true war experience it needs to be realistic and accurate. If the TV news can show it a video game should to. I'd like to experience the true horror of combat like headshots blown up body parts, signs of previous battles and civilians.

to the last two reviews, try finishing the game on veteran and see if your'e complaining bout the length of the game then. and then theres multiplayer

I completely agree with you Holly. The new generation of games is all about making games look and play great but at the expense of a fair game length. Most of the games I have bought fall into this trap, Bioshock, Halo 3, and COD 4 are all short and in the end left me feeling a little ripped off.

I still haven't got around to finished Quake 4 and Halo 2, there were really games. Seems players are now expected to have the attention span of goldfish and to just look at the graphics in amazement as if that is more important then the game content itself.

What seems to make it worse is when these games get the first review they get high ratings due to the graphics, etc and you rush of to buy it only to find the game is over before the TV ever warmed up.

Personally I am going to see how GTA4 goes but that may be the last game I buy, maybe I am getting to old for them or maybe I just remember a time when games were made to last.

An immensely enjoyable shooter experience. But way too short! That's the thing with recent shooters! It is more enjoyable than the previous CODs, but it's over so soon. Graphics are amazing. Voice acting is great. Multiplayer…well.. I never play multiplayer as its repetitive and boring, but I suppose those who like to would like it. Worth a rental as you could play through the whole game, not worth the price for a few hours long game that ends up on the shelf after two or three plays. (As Halo 3 did for me).

Great game, had to wait for my Xbox to be fixed so downloaded the demo on PC. Everything just looks so good. One thing that gets to me is the “Better on PS3” tag. Are you kidding me, its the same game. It would have been developed for the Xbox or PC first then converted to the PS3 format. There is no difference, developers have admitted they start on the easiest format first and they aren't going to make the last format better then the first.

Have been playing single player for a few hours now. This game is very impressive looking, brutal to all whom oppose you and very enjoyable.
