His Excellency says he is more than ever of opinion that the absolute disposal of the several offices of the revenue, subject to the control of the Treasury in England, should be placed in his hands. He is the more confirmed in that opinion from the great weight some of the Commissioners have been. Able to exert over several members who are officers under them. Asks if there are not some in the different branches of the services who ought to be marked out as particular objects of His Majesty's displeasure. On the other hand, there are men of the first abilities, integrity, and property, who have supported the Govern ment, who can be recommended to His Majesty as servants to carry on the public business with safety and credit. Is anxious that the Earl of Tyrone, and his brother Mr. John Beresford, and others, should have some mark of the Royal favour. (pp. 335.
