One of the major comedy hits of the 1970s, Carla Lane's Butterflies is centered around the everyday world of Ria Parkinson (Wendy Craig) and her anxiety that her role in life has been reduced to one of a mere spectator whilst the best years are passing her by. Ria is married to Ben (Geoffrey Palmer), a lugubrious dentist, who spends much time arguing with their sons - the thoughtful Russell (Andrew Hall) and the ever cynical Adam (Nicholas Lyndhurst).
