Author Biography

Dr. Volker Ullrich was born in 1943 and has studied history, literature and philosophy. Since 1990 he has been in charge of a department called 'The Political Book' at the Hamburg-based weekly newspaper Die Zeit. His most recent book was The Nervous Great Power. Ascent and decline of the German Empire 1871-1918.
