Description

This is an exciting science fiction first contact novel. There are surprisingly parts of it based upon true events, but most of it is pure fiction. It begins with young Canadian professor Jeff Sorenson meeting fellow professor Carla Belmont. She is somewhat into such occult activities as Tarot cards and the Ouija board. She invites Jeff to dinner and later introduces him to the Ouija board where it mysteriously contacts the spirit of his late father, or so it seems. He is captivated, but highly skeptical so he wants to try the board again. This time they both supposedly touch the mind of an alien interstellar spaceship captain named Dakalak. Over the next weeks they have continual contacts. Not believing this is possible, they ask for a sign that Dakalak is real. He tells them they will have a sign soon. And not long after there is a UFO sighting over the local airport just like he promised. So the next question was whether they could be taken to Dakalak's world for a visit. The answer is yes. The story now takes a drastic turn of events, as they travel to the distant world of Akala and have quite an adventure. The Akalan, being a gentle people, are impressed with Jeff and Carla. And the government considers a first official contact with earth, but with which nation. The superpowers would squabble among themselves if one was chosen, so Jeff Sorenson proposes his home country of Canada, which is a respected power, but not a superpower. Canada it is. Jeff and Carla become involved in planning the formal first contact, which is successful. But as the delegation prepares to return to Akala with Jeff and Carla acting as Canada's ambassadors, there are dire threats from the superpowers and from terrorists. As they depart, dark clouds of danger appear and the peace is threatened, which would derail the Akalan desire for contact, as they abhor the very concept of warfare between those of the same species. Read Beyond and see for yourself how the future of mankind is impacted.
