Twelve glowing tableaux illuminate the timeless beauty of the Christmas story in a kaleidoscope of stained glass. Beginning on the road to Bethlehem, scene by scene the pages portray the events surrounding the birth of Jesus, ending with the Holy Family's flight by night to Egypt. Fiona French's images - inspired by the pages of Les Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry and by the glorious English cathedral windows of Ely, Lincoln, York and Canterbury combine with words taken from the Authorized King James version of the New Testament to create a classic celebration of Christmas.
FIONA FRENCH studied Art Education at Croydon College of Art and went on to work as Bridget Riley's assistant. In 1986 she won the Kate Greenaway Medal for her book, Snow White in New York and since then has become renowned for her distinctively sharp and colourful illustrations.
