Action research, based in the classroom, is gaining ground among pre-service teachers in the US as a focus for projects used to demonstrate the critical competencies demanded by state and national licensing and accreditation bodies. Until now, however, there has been no text aimed specifically at the needs of this group, and none that combine practical guidance on research with rigorous self-study and personal-professional development. This innovative toolkit includes a workbook, which challenges students to reflect on their own practice and helps them find an area of focus, design a study, and collect, analyze, interpret and present data effectively. In addition, an accompanying dynamic CD contains interactive support materials and directions for further reading, to provide the best all-round course for pre-service teachers.
