Description
His immediately recognisable guitar style and confident vocals make him without doubt one of the most influential and innovative Blues men of the post war era. Hitting the music scene initially as Disc Jockey, Riley King was known as 'The Blues Boy“ and when the nickname was shortened to BB, it stuck.
Between 1951 - 1985 BB King had an amazing 74 entries in the BILLBOARD R&b charts and score a major pop hit in 1970 with The Thrill is Gone. His career underwent a huge renaissance in the late 80s with his championing by U2 and the subsequent world tour cemented his reputation as living legend.
Now sit back and witness this great entertainer at the peak of his powers in 1989, at the home of black music, The Apollo Theatre, Manchester.
