"Quite Possibly the Best Shooter"
5 stars"

I pre-ordered and received the gold edition of Bad Company back in July and am still happily playing over two months later.

The single player game is “so-so” as far as shooters go, as the review below points out, but where this game REALLY shines is in multiplayer. If anyone ever needed a reason to fork out for broadband and an Xbox Live Gold membership, then this is definately it!

There are 8 MP maps, at varying sizes and two gameplay modes (the second – Conquest, is available as an update from Xbox Live). Some of the larger maps offer a multitude of approaches, as well as a vast array of vehicles from your modest, but quick military jeep, to your hulking armor plated M1 Abrams tank.

Multiplayer offers 5 diffferent soldier classes, each with up to 5 selectable weapons and a special “gadget” to use on the battlefield. The addition of destructable environments (buildings, houses and walls can be blown apart to reveal hiding enemies, or be used to create your own vantage points), sets a benchmark for all future shooters to follow.

This game is a MUST HAVE for anyone that has a Live subscription, but probably wouldn't be a deal-breaker on the single player campaign alone.

If you want a perfect Fps Shooter, then BattleField: Bad Company is for you, With great graphics and awsome story, this game will make you a BIG fan of FPS shooters. I loved every second of this game, great weapons, vehicles graphics. Truly a game worth to be in any collection.

"Great online team based shooter"
5 stars"

I have played the Call of duty series online, also halo 3 and this is still by FAR the better online shooter ive played. (Ive also played frontlines and quake wars but no one plays those). I have a pretty quick broadband set up and lag doesnt seem to big an issue on this game unlike the Call of Duty seires of games. At least Halo 3 you can match up against people in your own country but that game sux big time. The idea of shields just bores me. Anyway, Bad Company has a great squad system where within your team of 12 there will be 3 squads of 4 and you can spawn on any of your squad members and can only communicate with your own squad members. The classes are fun to play and the vehicles even more fun. The objectives are challenging and team work is needed to succeed.

Single player is basically a big tutorial for the online play. The story is average, and i wouldnt suggest this game to someone without a broadband connection as they will find the game short and unsatisfying. Its all about the online play, and plenty of people play this game at all times of the day.

Buy this and get in some practice before Bad Company 2 comes out later this year! I'll definately be picking that game up ASAP.

"Best shooter this year so far?"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I was doubtful about battlefield before i brought it.

But I have played through the first bit and it's safe to say it's a must buy.

The graphics are great, storyline funny, with a great new control scheme.

I am more addicted to this game than I ever was with COD4.

9.5/10

"Great for its time"
4 stars"

This really did shape my thoughts on Online Warfare. Being used to the CoD series, and changing to Battlefield made me think more tactically. Graphics are really good. Campaign is a blast, with a lot of laughs. VERY EPIC worth the money.

"The best game ever!"
5 stars"

At first I was thinking about going out and buying some random FPS game, then I went looking in various shops looking for a good game. I found Bad Company! I watched some videos and it didnt look very serious but the graphics were amazing! So I bought it, a very cheap price for such an amazing game. When you watch trailers that are supposedly in-game, you dont really think they are, but this was. The graphics will blow you away, it has a good solid story line and humor added in there as well! This has got to be the best game ever! If I won Lotto I would buy as many copies as I could and give them away on the streets so everyone can experience blowing ANYTHING up with a tank, helicopter, rocket launcher or a grenade. You can literally blow anything up that includes trees, fences, walls, roofs, the ground (make a little fox-hole :D), and EVERYTHING. You can even use heavy artillery!

And that was just the single player!

In the multiplayer you experience everything that was in the single player and more! Play with your online squad and blow up some gold! Unlock weapons and rank up! The maps are MASSIVE and the options are limitless!

If COD4 and BF:BC cost the same I would buy BF:BC without a second thought!

"Incredibly enjoyable and addictive."
5 stars"

I bought this game because I was familiar with the Battlefield franchise. Thinking it would be just like Battlefield 2. But I was wrong. This game did not give the ordinary Battlefield gameplay, instead it gave us something new. Something different. Something really enjoyable.

The single player of Bad Company is not a great selling point of this game. To be honest, it falls flat on its face. You will have the odd chuckle at the your squads antics. But most of the dialogue just isn't funny. The AI lacks what its title says it should have. Intelligence. It doesn't take cover, it can't aim. And it doesn't try to act like an actualy military unit. You can easily walk right past them, right to the rally point without dying.

The hardest mode is not very challenging and should only be completed if you want a better GamerScore. The campiagn itself lasts around 5 to 6 hours. But can take up to 9 or 10 if you look for the gold and weapons hidden throughout the missions.

But thats not the reason you buy a Battlefield game. The franchise is not known for its single player. Its always been about the multi-player. And boy does Bad Company excel in that aspect.

With 2 modes to play in, the progressive, close quarter Gold Rush, where the teams play to either retain their gold, or steal it. And the classic Conquest. A total of 8 maps for Gold Rush and 9 for Conquest. Combined with the Frostbite engine, which now allows destruction the possiblitys of gameplay is multiplied many times. No 2 battles will be the same.

It gives you 5 different kits to play as, the short range and anti vehicle Demolition. The sneaky Specialist who relys on sneak attacks and ambushes. The medium range Assault who is a jack of all trades. The Support, who heals players and repairs tanks. And the long range Recon, who snipes anyone unlucky enough to fall in his crosshairs.

The vehicles are still present in Bad Company and they are even more fun to use. There is the fast but weak tansport vehicles such as the HumVee and Voknik. The armored transport such as the Bradley. Heavy tanks like the M1A2 Abrams and T90. Helicopters such as the Hind, Apache, Mil Mi-28 and the famous KA-52. Aswell as a golf cart. There are many ways to play.

Battlefield Bad Company is worth every cent and more. The multiplayer is enjoyable enough for some people to clock up over 100 days spent in game! And if you like Battlefield 1943, then Bad Company is the perfect game for you.

"Awesome online"
5 stars"

The single player campaign is good but where this game really earns it's 5 stars is the online game play.

Exploding buildings and a variety of unit types make it highly addictive, combine that with a great ranking system based on kills not games won so you don't get screwed with crap team mates and you've got one of the best online games atm.

"Save/load system lets it down."
3 stars"

Quite a neat mission based shooter. Large open areas to run around in, a novel story interspersed with realistic missions; destroy artillery position, clear villages of hostiles ect. I especially liked all the modern hardware; Abrams tanks, BMPs, Humvees and stuff, all excellently modelled and highly accurate, and the ability to pick up other weapons and commandeer vehicles, including a T-80!.

What let it down for me was the save/load system. It uses the checkpoint system which I hate but, ok… is pretty common. But when you die it doesn't load the last save, it RESPAWNS you! Like in a deathmatch! Unbelievable in a single player game. It seems the devs couldn't quite let go of their multiplayer roots. I ask you… what is so wrong with being able to save and load where you want, and when you die simply loading your last save? Why is that so unacceptable to some developers? Surely it's not technically unfeasible.

At least they didn't use the stupid health system where you magically regenerate. When you get hit your health meter goes down and you have to heal yourself by injecting yourself with a needle. But you can do that an unlimited number of times, which is a bit silly. But on the other hand you'll probably be thankful of that because the enemy soldiers posses super human senses which enable them to detect you automatically one hundred percent of the time if they have a clear line of sight to you. If you so much as poke your nose out of cover someone will see you and you get shot. Luckily you can take quite a pounding before you need to heal up.

So it's a good shooter, it's just not particularly realistic… or serious given the goofy antics of your squad mates.

"Replay value- Yes, yes indeed."
5 stars"

I bought this game a few months after it's release and I still love playing it. Looks and feels brilliant, although as a Cantabrian I can safely say, That's not what houses sound like when they fall over!

"Great purchase. Cool game in excellent condition."

Cool game. In some ways harder than the BC 2, especially without the big scopes, unless you snap up a sniper rifle. Taking a while to get through on the hardest setting which I love.

"Awesome game"

Great shooter with a story full of good humour,a must for the collection.

"99% the best Multiplayer out"
5 stars"

When B:BC was released, i didn't rush out to buy it, as to be honest i was quite skeptical of good it would be after watching the trailer, it didn't looks very “serious”, kind of like a comedy shooter. But then i bought the Gold edition a couple of months after, and haven't put my controller down since. The single player is very basic, and short. Didn't like it at all, but the multiplayer on the other hand, well it's a first class act. Graphics are excellent, really cool how you can literally blow anything/everything up including the ground and buildings, you can lop a grenade at a wall a player is hiding behind and take them out with it. The only thing bad i have to say about B:BC is it has developed a few bugs lately, a lot of the time, knives connect with enemies but don't kill them, instead you get knifed after they realize. And enemies can shoot you without even looking at you. But apart from that, an excellent well worth it game and the sequel will be even better! Best thing about Multiplayer is, each time you knife someone, you collect their dog tags and they are stored in your player profile on BFHQ.
