Batman Arkham City reviews

When I bought this for my boyfriend, I wasn't expecting that I would enjoy playing it to, however I love it! Fantastic game that has both of us anticipating the next. Mark Hamill as the Joker is unbelievable. And let's face it. You can't have Batman: Arkham City without M (ARK HAM) ILL.

By far the best game I have ever played. Finished the story twice and still want to play it many more times. Smooth and easy to learn controls. Great Story-line. Amazing dialogues and video cuts. I can basically write an essay on how amazing this game is. A must for any gamer!

Great game, fun and all but missung something. And batman needs to kill people. Whats the point in fighting the same bad guys 10 times

I played Arkham Asylum, and thought it was fantastic, but I bought it for the low price of $40 and was glad I did not pay any more. I played Arkham City, and thought it was great, but I bought if for $100 and regret it. It is a fantastic game, but even with the side quests and the very time worthy new game plus, it can feel like there isn't enough variety to justify buying it until the price drops a little bit.

As for the actual gameplay, it is very similar and while it takes big leaps forward it often takes small steps back (small steps). The fist fighting, combat, navigation of the world and story have all been improved an incredible amount. But the invisible predator mode and the world itself feel like they took away so much of why they were loved in Arkham Asylum. Some characters are introduced and then disappear after ten minutes, which is disappointing as they are characters that most people would want to see more of. The predator mode no longer makes you feel awesome or stealthy, it feels like mode where you learn the NPC's patrols and rush to set traps and get to areas rather then making you strategically pick them off, it feels disappointing compared to the original.

But fist fighting is much, much better. Gadgets can be integrated into combat both creatively and easily, and it feels like you are being rewarded when you pull of these gadget attacks or string together large combos. Also, you see Batman as much more of a human being, he becomes a much more interesting character to observe then the monotone, always confident and unbeatable character that he was in Arkham Asylum and the game has both a strong opening and finish, even if it falters a bit in-between sometimes.

Altogether, it is a great game and a worthy sequel. I wish it could've been a little bit more then it is, but it still is great for loving fans of the first game and batman in general. The price factor is not as bad when you buy at MightyApe too, which will help you feel like you spent the right amount of money and feel like the game was better overall.

Awesome game, nice flow of game play. My copy came in a generic blu ray case instead of an actual ps3 case though. Im not sure if it does that with all Arkham city games or if its just luck of the draw, but the game itself rocks!

This game is soooo beautiful! and the voice acting is AMAZING, I love Joker's voice actor he's very into the character and is intense!

Everything form the last game has been amplified ten fold, the story, the in depth characters, the stealth and the fighting side to Batman is OUT STANDING!!! easily in my top 5 games. 9.6/10.

Playing with my son,so much to do, side missions are great,can upgrade your abilities,gadgets, great fun beating up dudes too! Catwoman is fun as she adds a different dynamic to the game.Also alot of people forget that Batman is a detective too, not just some thug,so the puzzles are fun to solve and not too hard.Taking our time with this one so we can enjoy the full fun of Batman!

What can I say about Arkham City- Well first off finished the story line in a matter in 3 hours (game time), but the game is no where near finished. There is an awesome variety of Riddles that will take you weeks to complete, not to mention all the side missions.

The only flaws I have with the game is the amount of commands the have put on 1 button. X (or whatever it is you use on xbox) is used for run, climb down, climb up, glide, jump while running and probably more, do you know how hard its is when you coming out of glides and into runs trying to get trophies… Phew, good luck… Not only that when aproaching a group of thugs with guns. Either be sneaky in your approach (sometimes impossible) or use your gadgets (most times it only takes out 2 enemies) or GFT outta there. The ‘ballistic armor’ doesn't last very long, and Batman cant beat them down like in a knife/bat/fist fight, like he should… And finally I don't much like the layout of the city, takes so long to get to the otherside (especially if your Catwoman).

All I can say is take your time! even in fights. Wait for attacks and counter. Otherwise have had so much fun…

It has to be the best game release of last year and nothing in 2012, I've played, has beating it yet. Only let down is no online game play, would of been great having 10 Jokers Vs 10 Batmans last man standing. A total must buy.

If you liked Arkham Asylum, or you just like Batman in general then this is a must have game. If you buy used however dont bother with the Catwoman DLC, it's fun, but not worth and extra $10

HEAPS fun and is enjoyable throughout loads of things to do and is a great game

Great game at first I didnt really get into it. But now im playing it every day. Recomended to all. The combat is really good and fun. 8/10

A truly great game all round. A definite must buy for any Batman fan, or any gamer in general.

Good story line, amazingly fluid combat system, and many puzzles and missions to be completed after the campaign.

The next installment of the Batman saga “Arkham City” goes beyond the original and blows it out of the water. The combat is just a strong,but has more available gadgets, a smoother flowing combat and more elaborate test of skill and detective work.

Well worth the money, Arkham City is not just a sequel, it is the next step in gaming. If you have the capability of playing it in 3d then you are in for a treat. The colours are ritcher, the textures more defined and the action even more intense.

Arkham City is One to own, even if you have purchased Arkham Asylum. Stop reading this review and go order your copy right now!

This game is like the gothems version of assassins creed, a very well made game

Great game with a lot to do. Good story line and requires some thought with the strategy play.

Amazing the graphics are like a painting the game play is so fluid and the story line is absolutely breath taking.

All pretty good aye. It's Batman. What else can you say-

This game is highly addictive to anyone with a slight hint as to the Batman story line. You don't need to know everyone's back stories or their reasons why as it is all pretty much laid out infront of you on a platter in this game. I think the hardest part of all was remembering which button combo to use on which type of enemy.

Every bit as good as advertised! Has lots of ‘re-playability’. Arkham 3 PLEASE!!!!

I really enjoyed the game content, fighting, graphics. So many Riddler puzzles it was crazy. also the new improvements they did with some of the old gadgets were quite impressive, i hope they keep making more batman games as i am a big fan. thanks heaps Mighty Ape

Batman Arkham Asylum was an amazing game! But it was missing a few things. Arkham City has those missing things. The new way to get around town is easy. The models are detailed. The graphics are spot on. But I just had one problem.

The story line was a little too short. I completed the game in two days. And normally It would take me awhile to complete a game. And i was expecting more appearances from Catwoman and Robin. But its still a good game. I suggest you buy it now!

This game is simply amazing. The depth of the storyline and how it is so well linked together make it one of the few engaging game story lines either, it isn't only fun to play but also fun to watch, because it is so cinematic. The combat is so fast and fluid and the riddles are as hard as ever. Its perfect :}

Great game, and a worthy successor to AA. Really enjoyed the story, it was perhaps a little bit to short, but fantastic. Awesome to zip through the buildings as Batman. Great combat with all of Batmans gadgets.

Can't wait for the next one.

As the sequel to one of the best games of 2009, Batman Arkham City is an awesome and entertaining as expected in this successful game series which meets our expectations. This is an awesome game with a good story, awesome graphics and fun action. You can play not only as the Dark knight but also Catwomen, who has her known mini-story in the game. Also meet numerous villians such as the joker, the penguin, Mr freezes and alot more. I would recommend this to any gamer as it is an impressive game that will keep you entertained for hours on end.

Add this to your trolley now. Good. This game is above even a masterpiece like Arkham Island, it's prequel. The city setting really gives you the impression that you are really batman this time. The combat has been finetuned and makes this a new experience for all players, including those who sent hours on the first game beating it 100%.

The Rogue's gallery is well represented with many enemies showing up to take a swing at The bat.

Well. Played the whole game through.. finished story mode in a matter of hours. Great story. But to be honest.. I enjoyed Arkham City more! Still an amazing game. 67% through the whole game! Riddler challenges are gunna take me awhile!
