Description

This collection of simple songs and activities leads to independent part-singing, making it accessible and fun for both pupils and teachers. Two-part songs, including echo songs, canons, rounds and partner songs are clearly presented with notes to guide the teacher through personal preparation, effective ways of teaching and developing the songs, and help with problems that might arise when attempting part-singing for the first time. There are also supporting activities and games to aid the development of the skills and the confidence needed for successful, rewarding two-part singing. Down by the bay; Swing low, sweet chariot; Rivers of Babylon; TV Tantrum; Jelly on a plate; I wanna sing scat; Can you dig that crazy gibberish?; Wipe, sniff, drip. There is a graded introduction to part-singing for 7-11 year olds; guidance for teachers and children throughout; clear layout and easy-to-follow instructions; wide range of musical styles and forms including traditional, pop and non-Western and many specially commissioned for the book; makes part-singing accessible and fun.
