Scotland’s premier rock export and an inspiration for a host of hard rock acts that followed (most famously perhaps, Guns ‘n’ Roses), Nazareth’s reputation is founded upon a host of hits during the Seventies. They are rightly lauded for their powerful originals, but it is probably by stamping their identity indelibly on other people’s songs that they gained the keys to rock Valhalla – notably with their versions of ‘Love Hurts’ (number 1 for a year in Norway!) and Joni Mitchell’s ‘This Flight Tonight’.
