Author Biography:

Karen Johnson is the founder of Real Stories from the Heart, a storytelling artist. She is an independent artist, writer, performer, and storyteller. As a freelance performer, productions and primarily comprised of original works that combine storytelling with songs and poetry. Karen's unique style of storytelling is an emergent entity from developing workshops to creating curriculum; her art is to enhance communications literacy. Ms. Johnson has presented Lecture Workshop for "Storytelling the Language of Leadership" conference for Andrews University, a three hours presentation consists lesson plan and learning objectives. And presented numerous years for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Legacy of Environmental and Social Justice at the Yale Peabody Museum; with this year focus on 2015 storytelling theme "Thriving in the Harvest." Karen a returning student of Gateway Community College is studying early childhood education she is thriving in her harvest to take her craft to the next levels with expertise. Reading "Baba the Farmer," enlightening the unique style of Karen with a flourishing learning experience, this is just one of many books to come which offers "Lesson Plan." Ms. Johnson possesses raw vocal power; her vocal performance is only matched by her stage presence. In 2003 she was nominated for the Governor's Arts Award by both residents of Connecticut and Nairobi Kenya, "A Mother Africa Storyteller and Songstress." Awarded for the City of Hartford Connecticut Officially Citation. And the Appreciation letter for the Arts, for the Annual Caribbean Art Exhibition by Mr. Keith Carr Sr. Karen possesses a talent for performing; as a vocalist and storyteller her original works of art is mesmerizing, relaxing, and smooth.
