With informative captions, a glossary and an index, this book introduces readers to the golden age of piracy in the early 1700s. The book explains the context of piracy by describing the geographical area of the Spanish Main and looking in detail at the ships of the period. The text avoids the romantic impressions which surround piracy and paints a realistic picture of the horrors of being taken prisoner by pirates.
